1.) My therapist started my massage 15 minutes late and finished 5 minutes early. When I told the receptionist during my checkout, she was unapologetic and argumentative trying to convince me that it was a "50 minute hands-on treatment". Clearly, 20 minutes off of a 60 minute service leaves you with a hands-on service totaling 40 minutes but she continued arguing.
There are very talented massage therapists that work here... Too bad because getting past the front desk is a painful experience. Constantly rude and incompetent. One girl even told me she "didn't know what to tell me" when a gift card wouldn't process one time. I mean c'mon, customer service 101. Went today and after the girl (Jessica) was specifically told NOT to charge the card on file she did anyway. She was too busy being rude and rolling her eyes at other staff members to pay attention. She charged an inactive account and now I am stuck with a $35 bank fee. The hour of relaxation is not worth the extra fee I have now. Plenty of other massage places in the area.
Besides taking me late, at no point did my therapist ask any specific areas I wanted worked on, how her pressure was...nothing...just skimmed right through the motions.
I received a gift card from my family to celebrate 2 years cancer free. My daughter talked to the front desk and purchased a $150 gift card which they told her would be enough for a facial, a massage and gratuity. I called this past week to schedule the massage and facial and told the person on the phone I had never been there and I had this gift card, and how could I schedule this. She recommended Charles for the facial and Christine for the massage after asking what I was looking for. Unfortunately, these 2 people were not available on the same day, and I asked her if that mattered with my gift card and she said no. So I went for my facial yesterday and afterward, the woman at the front desk starting talking to me about the membership. I told her I would think about it and let her know when I came back for the second half of my gift card, my massage. She told me that I had to then use the full price non member price. I told her about how I had called and even asked about splitting up the services. She didn't want to hear about it and over and over kept telling me to join with a membership. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she told me she was the assistant supervisor.
I had a membership that I recently cancelled at this location. Going for a massage is supposed to be a relaxing experience that you look forward to, however, there were months that I did not even go for my massage, because every single time we would show up for our appointment, something went wrong! Either they had the length of our sessions incorrect (and you waste 10 minutes going back and forth with the front desk to attempt to resolve the issue-- which seems to be shaved off the actual massage) or there was another issue. Very stressful experience each and every time I visited. There also seems to be a lot of turnover with the therapists, so once you get used to one that you love, you can't request them again because they're not there anymore. There are no customer service gestures either to smooth over any problems you may face, which is a shame. They truly need to improve the level of customer service they provide. Until then, I will not be renewing my membership, and I will take my business to a place that actually values their patrons.
We will not be returning and advise against this facility if you're looking for high quality, professional treatments.
Very disappointed. My husband and I just moved here and previously belonged to Body Balance in Hoboken, NJ so we were anxiously looking forward to getting back into our massage routine. We booked our massages at the Shrewbury location and were very excited as we hadn't gotten massages in a few months by this point.
Ok. I hardly have the time for a massage. My husband got me this Massage Envy membership as his had expired. I gave him one of my massages and booked it with Danielle, well he came home and said, she knows what she's doing, he told me he made a massage for next week and he re- joined again. I just got out of a 90 minute massage with Danielle and omg!!! She is amazing. I have gone to so many massage places and wondered about Massage Envy but with Danielle. She is sooooooo worth it!! Highly recommend her!!!!
I wrote to the address below last week and there has been no response.
Had I known I had to use these together to get the deal my family purchased for me I would have. I explained everything to the person on the phone initially, so I really am upset about how the front desk handled this. Now, it seems it will cost me $40 more than anticipated to get the massage.
We were tremendously disappointed, walking out aggravated and feeling like we just wasted an afternoon rather than walking out refreshed and relaxed as you typically do after a spa treatment.
2.) My husband's therapist got upset with him for "not relaxing his arm enough" and so skipped the arm altogether and accused him of "not enjoying massage", then proceeded to complain that she hadn't slept in days and when he asked that she lighten up on the pressure, she explained that if a client asks for medium pressure she will usually tell them to see another therapist because she only does deep "corrective" pressure. Needless to say she didn't lighten up and he just grit his teeth through the rest of the massage.
