They are always friendly, polite and helpful.
I called the store to explain the situation and was told that the salespeople there all wear these aprons with no issue. I explained that I am not an apron washing novice and that I'd like to return the apron. They said it had to be within 30 days and I had to have the receipt. I didn't have the receipt but said I had paid with my debit card and had a bank record of the purchase. It was 32 days since my purchase and they wouldn't let me return it.
Update: I wrote to Williams Sonoma corporate and they forwarded my email to a manager at the Shrewsbury store who graciously offered to exchange the apron for a different type.
The way customers are treated at The Grove at Shrewsbury location is deplorable. I recently attempted to return a gift (a Le Creuset baker) and although I did not have a receipt I was hopeful that I would be able to work something out as I knew that the item was purchased at a WS. At first the staff said there was nothing they could do as I had no proof that the item was purchased at WS. I asked if there was a way to look up the purchase if I provided the purchaser’s name and email. This should have been an easy task, however the staff involved made it seem like it would be a huge ordeal and they did not want to waste their time. They started questioning me about my relationship to the gift giver, when the purchase was made, and when I received the gift. After answering these questions they finally agreed to search their computer system. After a very short search they stated that they could find a receipt for another item that was part of the gift but not for the item I was trying to return. Furthermore, the staff then started claiming that WS does not sell the item that I was returning. I explained that the item was not purchased at this WS and asked if it was possible that it was simply not carried at this location. This idea was promptly dismissed. I left the store extremely frustrated and annoyed with how I was treated as a customer. Once I got into my car I did a quick internet search I was able to locate the exact item (color and all) being sold from WS. Overall I was made to feel that I was somehow trying to cheat this corporation by attempting to return an item that they sold and will never shop here again. The only silver lining in this whole experience is that I was that I was planning on returning the item and then purchasing a more expensive Le Creuset pan. I am very happy that I am not giving this establishment a single penny.
I've been shopping at Williams-Sonoma since they first opened but after this experience I will not shop at Williams-Sonoma again - there are way too many places you can get the same products with better return policies and prices.
I recently purchased a sage striped Williams-Sonoma apron at this store. It's my 3rd Williams-Sonoma apron I've purchased over the years. Unlike the first two, I wore this one for the first time and washed it and was surprised to find it came out of the washer in a wrinkled mess. I figured the dryer might help but the wrinkles were embedded in the apron. I attempted to iron the apron with my linen setting and it was still a wrinkled mess despite spraying with water and using my surge function on the iron.
The staff was very attentive to my needs as I needed a certain spatula and they had it. Wonderful and Cheerful Customer Service.
Then one of the managers told me to bring the apron in and she would iron it for me!! When I declined that offer she said she could give me another identical apron. I had no interest in that since I'd have the same problem.
